Vesitanian Crusader infantryman

Modern day crusades.

After a rash of devastating terrorist attacks by religious fundamentalists, Vesitanian Archminister Decis XV declared the start of the 22nd Century Crusade. Joined by the hawkish president of the United Republic, along with other allies, armies were amassed and sent towards the Urayyiqan continent.

With its vast wealth and influence, the Vesitanian Church is capable of fielding entire armies which may operate independently of or jointly with Imperial Vesitanian forces. Though fewer in number, the Crusaders are better equipped and armed, with resources rivalling those allotted to the Royal Guard.

The Order of Angeline is also a considerable force under the Church, though they are prohibited from slaying humans - they are only allowed to defeat demons, monsters, undead and similar threats. If unarmed, per international law the Order may qualify as neutral observers or arbitrators in any war zone or conflict.

As the combined forces lay waste to their enemies, events escalated. Following various territorial incursions and resulting casualties,  the Tasquani Caliphate declared jihad, and was joined by the Kingdom of Pardissia through mutual defense treaties.
